Appropriation Bill for financial year 2018 to be presented in Parliament

The first reading of the budget Appropriation Bill for the Financial ear 2018 will be presented in Parliament today by State Minister of Finance Eran Wickramaratne.
The state expenditure for the financial year 2018 stands at Rs. 3982 billion. The state income for the year is estimated at Rs.2175 billion.

Minister of Finance and Mass Media Mangala Samaraweera is due to present the budget proposal on November 9.The presentation of the budgetary Appropriation Bill, which includes the estimated state expenses, is the usual tradition.

Issuing a communique, the Ministry of Finance noted that the proposals from the general public will be accepted until October 18. Meanwhile, a special parliamentary session has been convened today.

The special session was convened to debate and vote on the Municipal Council, Urban Councils and Pradeshiya Sabha Ordinance Acts.
