3 months gone by, no PET scanner yet

63ae7f8414b5a8c8f0c6d0de18e829e8_lA PET scanner is yet to be bought for the Cancer Hospital in Maharagama three months after the public donated Rs. 200 million to buying the scanner.

It took only 100 days to collect the money for the scanner, but in a similar period what the health ministry has done was only to appoint a committee, BBC Sandeshaya reports.

Key donors have expressed concern and accused the authorities of unconcern.

Chiarman of Kadijah Foundation, which pioneered the collection of the funding, M.S.H. Mohamed said a promise has been made to give the scanner to the hospital before the end of the year.

When contacted, the director general of health services said there was no delay in the process.
