His statement came in response to EPDP MP Douglas Devananda questioning him about the plan.

The minister said that the Sports Cum Swimming Pool Complex currently being constructed in Killinochchi for the children and youth in the Northern Province would be completed by August this year adding that the National Sports festival is scheduled to be held there.

“The construction has been assigned to the State Engineering Corporation but due financial problems, the allocated funds have been used to pay staff salaries and this will cause the delay in completing this project,” he said.
