Over 1000 SL fishermen arrested in India in five years

fishermen_1_0 A total of 1205 Sri Lanka fishermen were arrested by the Indian Coast Guards in the past five years, Inspector General Satya Prakash Sharma said. They were arrested for poaching in Indian waters. Also, 241 fishing boats owned by Sri Lankan fishermen were also taken into Indian custody. Meanwhile, 2391 Indian fishermen were arrested by Sri Lankan authorities for fishing illegally on its side during the last five years. They were repatriated. IG Sharma revealed this information as he retires this month.
